DMCA Copyright Policy
Last updated: May 30, 2026
Fossy (accessible at fossy.dev) respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects its users and contributors to do the same. In accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act ("DMCA"), we will respond expeditiously to claims of copyright infringement committed on our website that are reported to our Designated Copyright Agent identified below.
Fossy is a directory that indexes and links to open-source software repositories hosted elsewhere (such as GitHub). Please note that removing an item from Fossy does not remove the source code from GitHub or delete the repository. If you wish to remove the underlying code from the web, you should contact the relevant host (e.g., GitHub Support) directly.
1. How to File a DMCA Takedown Notice
If you are a copyright owner, or authorized to act on behalf of one, and believe in good faith that any material listed on our Service infringes your copyrights, you may submit a written notification containing the following information to our Designated Copyright Agent:
- A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorized to act on their behalf;
- Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed (e.g., a link to your original work or a detailed description);
- Identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing and that is to be removed or access to which is to be disabled, and information reasonably sufficient to permit us to locate the material (specifically, the URL of the page on Fossy);
- Your contact information, including your physical mailing address, telephone number, and email address;
- A statement that you have a good faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law; and
- A statement that the information in the notification is accurate, and under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed.
2. Designated Copyright Agent
Please send your completed DMCA notice to our Designated Copyright Agent:
- Attn: Copyright Agent / DMCA Dept.
- Email: dmca@greenrocket.app
- Organization: GreenRocket Group
Please note that we prefer email submissions for fastest processing. Notifications that do not comply with the above statutory requirements may not be processed.
3. DMCA Counter-Notification
If your project or profile page was removed or disabled on Fossy due to a DMCA notice, and you believe this was the result of a mistake or misidentification, you may submit a counter-notification to our Designated Copyright Agent. Your counter-notification must contain the following:
- Your physical or electronic signature;
- Identification of the material that has been removed or to which access has been disabled and the location at which the material appeared before it was removed or disabled (the specific URL);
- A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief that the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification;
- Your name, address, and telephone number; and
- A statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the Federal District Court for the judicial district in which your address is located (or if you are outside the United States, that you consent to jurisdiction of any judicial district in which the service provider may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the person who provided the original DMCA notification or an agent of such person.
Upon receipt of a valid counter-notification, we will send a copy to the original complaining party. If we do not receive notice within 10–14 business days that the original complaining party has filed an action seeking a court order to restrain the allegedly infringing activity, we may restore the removed material or link at our sole discretion.
4. Repeat Infringer Policy
Fossy reserves the right, in appropriate circumstances and at our sole discretion, to block, suspend, or terminate the accounts of contributors or users who are deemed to be repeat infringers of copyright. We may also ban or blacklist specific repository links or organizations if they are repeatedly found to be violating these rules.
